North Carolina has long been a leader in educational options for families. For students with disabilities who may need access to another option to meet their educational needs, the Children with Disabilities Grant and Education Savings Account may be their answer.

First In Families of North Carolina

The First In Families local Chapters offer support to families and individuals according to their self-defined needs. Examples of supports include computers, home furnishings or modifications, childcare or respite, or repairs to vehicles. Support can also be the connecting of an individual to vocational, social, and educational opportunities in the community; whatever it takes - for people to live and participate fully in their community.

Marty Lyons Foundation

Applications will be accepted for “special wishes” only for children chronologically aged three (3) through seventeen (17) years. Children must also reside, or be receiving medical treatment in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

Mercy Medical Angels

Provide assistance with transportation to receive medical services in the air with commercial airline tickets and volunteer pilots, and on the ground with gas cards, bus and train tickets.

Roberts-Miller Children's Fund Grant

A caring fund to provide assistance to any child in North Carolina under the age of 18 with serious medical/dental or related needs that cannot financially afford the service.

Rossi Fund

The Jean Wolff-Rossi Fund for Participant Involvement (Rossi Fund) empowers individuals with I/DD and their family members can receive reimbursement for specific expenses for seminars and conferences designed to improve their knowledge, networking and skill levels for advocacy.

State Education Assistance Authority

Provides both the Children with Disabilities Scholarship and the UNC Need Base Grant. Great PowerPoint explaining details and criteria.

The Stogner Foundation

The Stogner Scholarship for Autism, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for local children in North Carolina affected by autism spectrum disorder and other related disabilities. Scholarships will help to pay for the much-needed and well-deserved therapies, doctor visits, medications and other early interventions.
